Why my habit tracker counts weeks, not days

A daily streak breaks once and takes a year of consistency with it. Three-in-seven cannot.

Every habit app I have used counts days. Miss one and the streak dies, and the number you were protecting becomes a receipt for failing. I have watched myself quit a year-old habit over a single Tuesday.

Mine counts three in seven. You can miss a day and still be perfect. You can miss two and still be fine. The week is the unit because the week is how life actually arrives — a dinner runs long, a kid gets sick, a deploy goes bad on Thursday.

A streak measures your luck as much as your behaviour. A frequency measures your behaviour. Only one of those is worth putting on a screen.
