The three-minute audit that killed my inbox

A three-minute weekly pass that replaced an inbox I was managing all day.

Every Friday I used to spend an hour re-reading my own inbox, trying to remember what mattered. Now I spend three minutes on a script that reads it for me and flags exactly four things: what needs a reply today, what's waiting on someone else, what I said I'd do and haven't, and what can just be archived.

The inbox didn't get smaller. My relationship to it did. That's the whole trick — you don't need less email, you need to stop treating every message like it deserves the same attention.
